The former Bank of Tokyo opened a Representative Office in Lima In 1961 that was converted to a full branch four years later. In 1988, the branch closed due to the deteriorating security situation. In 2011 The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.(current MUFG Bank, Ltd.) re-opened the representative office in Lima, and in March 2012 its status was upgraded to a sub-branch (under Japanese regulation).
